In 2003 Mary Reshetar founded The Maya Kate Collection. The clothing line consists of top quality garments hand block printed and painted with machine washable paints. All designs are original and carefully rendered. Mary dyes most of her fabrics. She draws an image on block printed material, carves the images, prints and hand paints on each piece of clothing. The clothing styles are baby onesies, toddler outfits, dresses, baby sets, boy tops, and some women’s clothing. Mary’s inspiration for her children’s clothing comes from her own kids. Children are extremely creative, dreamy and pure in thought, and she tries to represent those attributes in her work. Reshetar paints in a very playful manner. In addition to fabric paints, Mary uses fabric marker, fabric crayon, and fabric pastel’s to achieve an interesting piece of wearable art. Mary graduated from Mansfield University in 1997 with a B.S.E in Art Education grades K-12. She displays her work in local boutiques, juried art shows and does studio tours by appointment.
